My modem devices for access internet connection with Telkomsel Flash Unlimited use Huawei E220. On Linux Fedora 8, Modem Huawei E220 working properly any time you plug it . The modem Huawei E220 device will appear like /dev/ttyUSB0.

This is setting wvdial on Linux Fedora 8 with modem Huawei E220 :

  1. Run wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
  2. Edit /etc/wvdial.conf
    This is my wvdial.conf and modem device = /dev/ttyUSB0

    [Dialer Defaults]
    Init1 = ATZ
    Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
    Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,”ip”,”internet”
    Modem Type = Analog Modem
    Dial Command = ATDT
    Baud = 460800
    New PPPD = yes
    Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
    Phone = *99#
    Username = ”
    Password = ”
    ISDN = 0
    Auto DNS = 1

  3. Edit /etc/resolv.conf
    nameserver 202.3.208.10
    nameserver 202.3.210.10
  4. Run wvdial. Before run wvdial you must stop network with /etc/init.d/network stop

Ok now, you can access internet use Telkomsel Flas Unlimited in Linux Fedora 8 with modem Huawei E220.

Does this setting support 3G network????
I am afraid that this doesn’t support 3G network. How can we know the setting for 3G network through that script???

This script support 3G network. you can setting 3G network at “Baud = 460800″. For GUI application you can try http://to2k.com/umts-monitor-for-modem-huawei-e220-in-linux-fedora-8.htm

as far as I know, all of Indonesian mobile phone service provider, at this point of time, there are no UNLIMITED SERVICE.

you can check in http://www.telkomsel.com and you will find that telkomsel flash is NOT unlimited service.

i live in bangka island . cauld the telkomsel flash use in remote are such as in kecamatn . i knom telkomsel supported by gprs but it is not so fast .how can solve this .I try modem huawei 220 hspda .did telkomsel has support that in remoye area. I live in belinyu babel

Huawei E220 Modem support with the GPRS area. Telkomsel Flash for GPRS capable of speeds of 364 KBS (EDGE) but in fact depends on the sharing of user. Modem connection to the stable set with GPRS ONLY.

i have problem when starting wvdial..already write the script identicaly as yours but it says “segmentation fault”. any suggestion? i just go to http://wandono.blog.unair.ac.id/modem-huawei-e220-di-fedora-8.html it seems say the same things. Thanks
