Asus Eee PC 1000/1000H, With Long Time Battery

Asus eee pc 1000The new series overcomes one of the major problems inherent in the Eee PC 901, which is the keyboard. The Eee PC 1000 series sports one which is actually useable for extended periods. Unfortunately, this comes at a hefty price, figuratively and literally. For one, the larger display and keyboard meant that the Eee PC 1000 no longer puts the P in portability, weighing in at a hefty 1.33kg (1.45kg for the Eee PC 1000H). Another is the price, which is expected to push the supposedly budget line into the realm of entry-level laptops. To counter this, the Eee PC 1000H version does away with expensive SSD and puts in a conventional spinning harddisk instead.

Deskstar 7K1000.B, Hitachi Second-generation Terabyte Hard Drive

Hitachi Terabyte hard driveHitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) announced the 1TB Deskstar 7K1000 hard drive in January 2007. Fast forward a year and a half, and the company is back with not a larger version of the drive but a more efficient model in the Deskstar 7K1000.B. Like its predecessor, the 7K1000.B is a 3.5-inch, 7,200rpm hard drive that serves up 1TB of storage space and a 32MB buffer. It hits that magic terabyte mark, however, by using only three disks–down from the five-disk design of the older 1TB drive. It also borrows from Hitachi’s 2.5-inch mobile drives and includes Bulk Data Encryption.

As the amount of digital information created, captured and duplicated continues to grow at an uninterrupted, unrelenting pace, Hitachi’s aim that the three elements of media content, culture, and increasing capacity, are uniting to create an entirely new landscape for enterprise and consumer data storage. It is against this backdrop that Hitachi is announcing the Deskstar 7K1000.B, its energy-efficient 7,200 RPM one terabyte (1TB) hard drive.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W300 Camera

Sony DSC-W300 CameraAfter I bought Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W300 Camera, this is my review. Sony’s W-series of cameras are known for their performance–muscle cameras, you can call them. The Cyber-shot DSC-W200 put a 12.1-megapixel sensor (the highest in a point-and-shoot then) in the hands of consumers, and now Sony outdoes itself by introducing the 13.6-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-W300.

The shooter also offers a wider dynamic range, and this is primarily due to its BIONZ image-processing engine. Developed by Sony, the Dynamic Range Optimization promises to preserve image details that may otherwise be lost in highlights or shadow regions. We are curious to see how effective this is, especially for high-contrast scenes.

Tips For Protect Your Small Business From Spyware

If your computers are in any way connected the Internet, they are being regularly bombarded with spyware, viruses, and other malware. Here are tips you can follow to block these programs, or at least detect and remove spyware from your firm’s networks and computer systems.

  • Be Careful Where You Download
Unscrupulous programs often come from unscrupulous sites. If you are looking for a freeware or shareware program for a specific purpose, try searching reputable sites like tucows.com or download.com.

  • Read that Pop-Up Window
Windows that pop up on websites are sometimes useful. But sometimes clicking the button or link will start to install harmful software. Like the EULA, many users will click “yes” or “ok” without stopping to read the text just to make it go away. Maybe it said “Would you like to install our spyware program?” Ok, admittedly they don’t come out and say it directly, but that is all the more reason to pause and actually read those messages before you accept.
